The Shins Perform at the Orpheum

There are three things about the Shins that make them stand out in today’s rock and roll tapestry.  First, their unique ability to rework age-old and, quite frankly, over-used chord progressions and harmonies into something original and “shinnish™”.  Secondly, they create a sound that is both clever and yet unobtrusive so that even your old grand-dad could appreciate their beards sensibilities in spite of their modern-day nerd-swagger.  And finally, we appreciate their appreciation for Vancouver, being a band originally out of Albuquerque (which is surprisingly hard to spell even though we’re addicted to Breaking Bad) come Portland, OR, we get to see them more often than most Canadian cities.
